The Council of University Deans of Arts & Humanities (CUDAH) was founded in 1986 as a result of an initiative by the British Academy then under the presidency of Sir Antony Kenney. The British Academy wanted to consult over the future of the arts and humanities in an informed forum that went beyond the Academy’s Fellowship. In May 2006, the Standing Council for the Arts and Social Sciences (SCASS) formally merged with CUDAH to form CUDASSH. CUDASSH (from 2009 DASSH-UK) is the national forum for Deans and leaders of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines in Higher Education institutions and seeks to be an authoritative voice for the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities across the UK.
