David Shepherd is Professor of Cultural Theory and Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Pro Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for Library and Information Strategy, at Keele University. Keele’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest of the University’s three faculties, comprising six Schools, two Research Institutes, and the Language Learning Unit. David’s research has focused on Russian literature, culture, and cultural theory, with particular reference to Mikhail Bakhtin and the Bakhtin Circle (at his previous institution, Sheffield University, he was the founding Director of the Bakhtin Centre); he has also worked on digital humanities. He is a member of the AHRC Peer Review College, and of Sub-Panel 28 (Modern Languages and Linguistics) for REF 2014.
